Seeking

1 Chronicles 16:11 NASB Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face continually.
What are you seeking? If you could say in one word what you want more of in life, what would that be? Every day our efforts and focus show we are seeking something: happiness, success, satisfaction, security, stability, peace, or fulfillment. None of these are bad. The question comes down to where you are expecting to find them.
The power of seeking God is summed up in a single beatitude from Jesus, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness (a right relationship with God), for they will be filled and completely satisfied” (Matthew 5:6 AMP). This pursuit is not a passive acknowledgment of God's existence but an active, intentional effort to know Him, to understand Him, and align our life with His purposes. It involves a persistent effort through prayer, worship, and studying His Word. Active, planned, and purposeful. “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). A simple yet profound statement. A call to crave, desire, and treasure above all else a continuous, deep, intimate relationship with God our Father.
Seeking is the one key to living a thriving, fulfilling relationship with our Heavenly Father. It is the one thing scripture says we must do to unlock the blessings of heaven, God’s goodness and favor, and ensure our prayers are heard. God promises to withhold no good thing from those that seek Him (Psalm 34:10), to pour out His goodness (Lamentations 3:25), to hear our prayers and forgive our sin (2 Chronicles 7:14), be a rewarder to those that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6), and to never forsake, forget, or neglect those that seek Him. All this and more! It doesn’t have to be complicated, and the impact of simply seeking God produces a life filled with joy, peace, and goodness.
1 Chronicles 16:11 also instructs us to seek His strength. When we seek God’s strength, we are surrendering to try and live by our own strength, acknowledging it is insufficient to handle life's challenges. We are weak, but it is in those weaknesses that He is made strong (1 Corinthians 12:9). When we acknowledge our need for God’s strength every day, whether good or bad days, He is released to guide us, protect us, be our safe fortress, and fill us with joy. “The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.” (Psalm 28:7).
We are also to seek His face. A person’s face reveals much about his or her character and personality. We see the inward emotions of a person expressed outwardly on the face. We recognize a person by looking at his or her face. Seeking someone's face is about making a connection with them. We are told in Exodus 33:11, “The Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.” Seeking his face is all about the relationship. God desires to speak with you just as He did with Moses, face to face.
Lastly, we are not called to seek God, His strength, and His face only on Sundays or whenever we feel the need. We are called to live our lives seeking Him always, constantly, perpetually, with no exception. It is how we obey 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “pray without ceasing.” Continually drawing on the presence, strength, and leadership of the Lord to navigate all of life. Jesus summarized it: “Seek and you will find; For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8). Your only job is to seek.
