God of Miracles

Psalms 77:14 NIV You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.
If you have lived life any amount of time, you have surely been faced with situations that appear hopeless or impossible. Most don’t have a hard time imagining God creating the universe or raising Jesus from the dead—but when it comes to the circumstances of our own lives, we often doubt Him.
Hebrews 13:8 tells us that “Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever,” and Malachi 3:6 says the God of miracles has not changed. He is still the God who holds the foundation of the earth, gives orders to the morning, and placed every star in the sky. He may not always perform miracles with the results we expect or on our timetable, but He is always at work—and always with a higher perspective.
The God of miracles uses supernatural power to reveal Himself to each of us. Miracles are divine interventions in the natural order of things, showing us God’s power in ways that defy human explanation. They reveal His character, strengthen our faith, and bring glory to His name. In Scripture, we read of the miraculous parting of the Red Sea, the provision of manna in the wilderness, Jesus’ healing of the sick, and His resurrection—each is not just a physical wonder but reveals profound truths about God’s heart and His love for each of us. He is our provider (Philippians 4:19), our healer (Exodus 15:26), and our defender (Psalm 18:2). The wonders He performs are not merely supernatural wonders but are acts of grace, mercy, and justice that shape our lives and teach us to trust Him.
Every day, we are surrounded by miracles but seldom acknowledge them: every breath you breathe and every beat of your heart are miracles of God, for you had nothing to do with either. Psalms 139:13-14 states, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know that full well.” Your very existence is evidence of a miracle-working God. Who can look into the night sky and see millions of stars or hold a newborn baby and doubt His miraculous power?
Our life as a redeemed, restored child of God (Romans 8:16) is enough evidence of a miracle-working God. That nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39); that we are seated with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6); and through Jesus Christ we have received eternal life (1 John 5:11). Augustine famously said, “I never have any difficulty believing in miracles, since I experienced the miracle of a change in my own heart.” God has taken our hard, wounded, sinful, bitter hearts and made them soft, whole, strong, holy, loving, and forgiving.
Almost daily, we attempt to humanize God, limiting our perspective of Him based upon our own experiences. The same God who raised Lazarus from the dead, despite his sister’s objections that he would stink (John 11:39). The God who brought healing and freedom to the demon-possessed boy, despite his father’s unbelief (Mark 9:24). The God who spoke “Peace be still” to the storm, despite the disciples’ fear and unbelief (Mark 4:39). The God who fed the 5000, despite the disciples’ human logic and reasoning (Matthew 14:17). The same God who Jeremiah 32:17 said, “O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too difficult for you!”
What are you facing today that seems impossible: a health diagnosis, a financial crisis, a challenging relationship, or some other difficult situation? Stir up your faith and remember that God is a God of miracles. As Jesus reminded us, “With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26); no conditions, no limits—all things. Don’t be afraid to pray big prayers today. We serve a miracle-working God!
