Reveal

John 14:21 TPT Those who accept my commandments and obey are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to them.

From the continual advances in ultrasound technology comes one of the great viral trends over the past decade...the gender reveal. Every couple attempts to one-up others by finding increasingly creative ways to reveal to their friends and family that they are pregnant and expecting a boy or a girl, or maybe multiples. God started his own reveal party and, since the beginning of time, He has been revealing himself to all those that seek to find him and know him.

Our salvation is more than a one-time experience. It is the beginning of a growing, continuous revealing of who God is and who each of us are as his son or daughter. New aspects of his faithfulness, goodness, mercy, and grace. “I will reveal my name to my people, and they will come to know its power. Then at last they will recognize that I am the one who speaks to them” (Isaiah 52:6 NLT). To those who choose to walk with Him, He continues to reveal more and more of Himself.

In a story familiar to most Christians, Jesus was attending a family wedding and, at the prompting of his mother, turned water into wine (John 2:1-11). It wasn’t just any wine; Jesus made new wine—a wine better than any previous wine. This miracle was a prophetic picture of the Holy Spirit and Jesus’ reference in Matthew 9:17 that “no one puts new wine in an old wineskin.” But John 2:11 also said this about the miracle: “it was the first time Jesus revealed his glory.” Through this supernatural sign, which met a practical need, He showed the power of His worth, His weightiness, greatness, honor, and splendor. Sometimes we miss God revealing himself in the most simple and practical ways.

God reveals himself through his creation. Romans 1:20 NLT states, “Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature.” God can be found anywhere, but something special happens when we encounter God in the outdoors. Spending time in nature has the power to calm and quiet our souls. There is something extraordinary about an encounter with God under the stars, beside the calming ripples of a mountain stream, listening to the birds and wildlife in the peaceful woods, or stopping to recognize the intricate beauty of a flower. Psalms 19:1-2 NLT confirms this as fact: “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.”

God reveals himself through His Word and his many names. More than just Hebrew titles, each name reveals another portion of God’s character and nature. Jehovah Jireh, God our provider. Jehovah Rapha, God our healer. Jehovah Shalom, God our peace. Jehovah Magen, God our protector. The mighty names of God not only reveal him to us but are active words of faith with the power to lift us out of whatever distressed state we are in.

From Genesis to Revelation, God’s greatest desire is to reveal himself to all of mankind, but maybe more importantly, to each of us individually. The final book of the Bible, The Revelation, could also be entitled The Revealing. In that time, God will fully reveal, leaving no doubt, that his son Jesus is the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the one who is worthy of all praise.

When Moses asked the Lord to reveal himself, the Lord replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you.” Allow the Lord to reveal his goodness to you. It may come in simple, yet unexpected ways.

2 Corinthians 3:18 TPT We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
